Steiner military-specific binoculars and scopes are engineered for sustained performance under demanding operational conditions. Rugged optical construction ensures stability under severe shock and vibration. Makrolon® binocular housings provide high resistance to oils, solvents, heat, cold, UV exposure, and saltwater. One-piece, nitrogen-pressurized 34 mm scope tubes are designed to withstand shock loads of up to 900 G. All optics are fogproof and sealed against dust, dirt, and moisture.
All models are waterproof for immersion, with selected systems rated for depths of up to 5 meters. Developed in close cooperation with special forces and experienced weapons specialists, Steiner optics are built to meet strict military requirements and deliver reliable performance in real operational environments.
Binoculars are designed to rest securely and comfortably in the hands, featuring rubber-armored housings and ergonomically shaped surfaces that support intuitive operation. Scopes are equipped with adjustable illumination, oversized control knobs, and tactile and audible feedback to enable precise settings and repeatable accuracy. All design elements are developed with a clear focus on ergonomics, supporting reliable handling and operation in demanding real-world environments.
Steiner lenses and prisms are integrated into robust, rubber-armored Makrolon® polycarbonate binocular housings and seamless, high-strength alloy scope tubes. All systems are purged, sealed, and protected to ensure fog-free operation, water resistance, and high impact tolerance under demanding environmental conditions. Designed for sustained reliability, Steiner optics are engineered to perform consistently under extreme mechanical and climatic stress throughout their service life.
Steiner-Optik in Bayreuth has been setting standards in the field of premium optics for over 70 years. The more than 460 demanding manufacturing steps ensure the highest quality, from design to production. Continuous innovation creates technologies such as nitrogen filling, laser protection filters, Steiner Nano-Protection® and the typical Steiner high-transmission coatings such as the Diamond Marine coating. For best optical quality.
Steiner’s proprietary N2 Injection™ system pressurizes optics with nitrogen, using trace helium as a tracer gas to verify seal integrity. During hyperbaric testing, any escaping helium indicates insufficient sealing, prompting disassembly and reprocessing of the system. This controlled testing procedure ensures consistent internal pressure and reliable resistance to fogging and water ingress.
As a result, Steiner optics are designed to maintain performance under severe environmental conditions and long-term operational use.
Steiner offers advanced laser protection filter solutions for military optics. All Steiner military binoculars can be supplied with different laser protection configurations depending on mission requirements. Available options include Gen II protection and Gen III protection. Customized laser protection filters can also be configured to meet specific user or mission requirements.
Steiner military binoculars are engineered for reliable operation across a wide range of environmental conditions. Designed to withstand operating temperatures from −40 °C to +80 °C, they deliver stable optical performance in extreme cold, heat, and humidity. Impact-resistant construction and effective sealing ensure consistent image clarity and fog-free operation in arctic, desert, jungle, and high-altitude environments.
Wherever operational requirements demand dependable observation equipment, Steiner military binoculars are designed to perform.
During a mission, an armored vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device. While the vehicle sustained heavy damage and much of the equipment was destroyed, the personnel inside were able to evacuate safely. Among the remaining functional equipment were Steiner military binoculars. Despite visible structural damage caused by heat and impact, the optical and prism systems remained intact and operational. This outcome did not come as a surprise to the operators.
Steiner military optics are engineered to maintain functionality under extreme mechanical and environmental stress. Designed for real operational use, they continue to perform when equipment failure is not an option.
